The Scottish Mile 2024

The Scottish Mile is now in its 3rd year for 2024 and we are looking forward to seeing you run your best mile on the 15th September!

What is the format for The Scottish Mile?

The course follows a point to point officially measured mile along Silverknowes Promenade. The flat tarmac route will take runners on a speedy no-turns race with an inspiring coastal backdrop.

The direction of the race will be decided on race day, depending on the wind. This allows the organiser to guarantee no head wind and therefore a fast race, with records and PB's bound to be broken!

Should you enter the ELITE or OPEN event?

If you are male and aiming to run a sub 5 minute mile OR you are female and gunning for a sub 6 minute mile then you are in with the ELITES! Otherwise, you are best to go in the OPEN event.

The Innocent Half (2024)

The Innocent Half Marathon on Feb 25th 2024 is timed to be in line with runners' training schedules for many Spring marathons including London, Brighton and Edinburgh.

This half marathon is a perfect way to test your training and pace ahead of the big day. Named ‘Innocent’ as it is fundraising for 3 children’s charities – Richmond’s Hope, Kidney Kids Scotland and Firefly International.

Richmond’s Hope provides support for children and young people aged 4-18 years who have been bereaved. Kidney Kids Scotland was founded to help children with renal illness and their families. Firefly International is a very small Edinburgh based charity that supports children affected by war.

The run route is on a mixture of car free roads within the grounds of Dalmeny Estate and some cycle pathways between South Queensferry and Burnshot. It is 85% tarmac and 15% very runable track. It starts and finishes in South Queensferry. There is no escaping some climb in this neck of the woods so please note that there is approx 275m of ascent - but what goes up must come down again!

The route will be fully marked and marshalled.

Come along to collect your timing chip and race number between 9 - 10.30am from the Longcraigs Scout Hall on Longcraigs Road (note this is NOT at Port Edgar) . Parking is available on Hawes Brae and New Halls Road in South Queensferry.

Water of Leith Half 2023 VIRTUAL

Water of Leith Half 2023 VIRTUAL EVENT

The Water of Leith Half is now in its 23rd year and it has raised thousands of pounds in that time for various local charities.

This year's event will help to conserve this wonderful river and its pathways which we are lucky enough to run along. The Water of Leith Conservation Trust works to conserve and enhance the river, its heritage and wildlife: the Trust promotes education and recreation through the Visitor Centre and works with volunteers and community groups to deliver around 300 river clean-ups and habitat improvement tasks annually.

Join us on the start line of this iconic half marathon route. It is a point to point event, starting in the SW of Edinburgh beyond Balerno and winds you through the city along the Water of Leith pathways to Coalhill, Leith.

We do not foresee having more than 200 runners taking part as we wish to keep it small, manageable and to reduce impact on the pathways. It is a handicapped race with a max time of 2h30, slowest runners start at 9.30am.

The start area is just outside of Balerno, on a farm track off Harlow Road and the finish area is Coalhill, Leith. We will have marshals at all difficult road crossings and the runners are advised that no roads have been closed for the race so to keep their wits about them when crossing roads, of which there are only a few. The route will also be floured the day before at any junctions to keep the runners on the right path.

NOW SOLD OUT but if you volunteer this year you will guarantee your 2024 race place - email blastrunning1@gmail.com

You will have the option to book a seat on the coach to take you from the finish area to the start line for £5

ONLINE ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED. You can enter the Open Event on the day by coming along between 9-9.30am to the reg tent by The Boardwalk Cafe, Marine Drive.

It is a more traditional XC route using the playing fields and park lands of the amazing Fettes College. Completely flat but still has the opportunity to be muddy! This is a two lap route.

Please note that trail shoes are encouraged but are not compulsory, however you will need trainers with a good tread.

The Santa Dash is now in it's 3rd year and is a firm festive favourite amongst our regular runners! Dress up as a Christmas pudding, an inflatable turkey (yes this has happened) or just come along in your running kit and hope not to be called Scrooge!

This year's event will take place at Gypsy Brae Recreation Ground, Silverknowes on Sunday 18th December with the kids’ 1 mile dash starting at 10am and all other distances starting at 10.30am.

£3 of every kids’ 1 mile dash entry and £1 of every other entry will go to Young Lives vs Cancer (formally known as CLIC Sargent)

Join us on the start line for a 1 mile dash, a 7km dash, a 14km dash or a 21km dash (it's actually a little bit more than 21km, to make it an official half marathon).

Entry includes a finisher's medal and mince pie!

Water of Leith Half 2022

Water of Leith Half 2022

The Water of Leith Half is now in its 22nd year and it has raised thousands of pounds in that time for various local charities.

We do not foresee having more than 150 runners taking part as we wish to keep it small, manageable and to reduce impact on the pathways. It is a handicapped race with a max time of 2h30, slowest runners start at 10am.

You will have the option to book a seat on the coach to take you from the finish area to the start line.
